About

Our Mission

The Defend Them All Foundation (DTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to secure a better future for all animals and their habitats by preserving the symbiotic relationship between species and the natural environment through community advocacy, education, and legal guidance.

DTA approaches issues at the intersection of animal and environmental law.  By employing a cross disciplinary approach, we create long-term solutions and build a better future for the causes we support.

Our Philosophy

Issues involving animals and the environment are complex and require a deep understanding of the forces behind policy change within each community.  Because there is no “one size fits all” solution to these issues, DTA commits to building strong collaborative relationships with its client advocates and community members. These relationships enable us to create specifically tailored strategies and to ensure the success of the project upon completion.

Achieving a positive long-term impact requires specific attention to three critical components:

  • Community education programs that foster a deeper understanding of the issue and enable citizens to make more informed and responsible decisions;

  • Thoughtfully crafted laws and policies with clearly defined terms, appropriate sanctions, and effective enforcement mechanisms; and

  • Constant, swift enforcement of the law to ensure effective implementation.

What We Do

Defend Them All was established to fill a gap in the ever growing field of animal and environmental law and policy. We strive to take on issues that are often overlooked or under served by working at a community based level with advocates in particular localities around the world.

DTA works in target localities to advise and support those committed to making a difference, frequently serving as an intermediary between policymakers and local advocates. By actively collaborating with our clients and community members,  we are able to facilitate a more productive conversation between stakeholders, resulting in practical, long-term solutions to controversial issues.

DTA’s clients include advocates that aim to improve the lives of animals in their community in some way. Once a project is identified, DTA works with the client to create a strategic plan to address the issues presented.  Action items may include proposing new legislation or enforcement policies, public awareness campaigns, or litigation.

Educating the Next Generation of Advocates

Getting started in the field of animal and environmental law and policy can be challenging. DTA offers unique internship opportunities for students passionate about defending animals and their habitats. By taking on students at various levels of their education, we provide a platform for passionate advocates to gain the skills necessary to advance change.By participating in real time campaigns and projects tailored to their own interests and talents, students gain invaluable skills and training that will benefit generations to come. We believe that immersive experiences that encourage discovery and exploration are key catalysts for personal growth, intercultural development, and effective advocacy.
